tired tired of this empty space beside me in this room and in my mind tired but I can’t get yet to sleep I’m caught up in a reverie which no real dream can compete with sleep sleep is temporary shelter sleep’s a waste of time go light another cigarette and wait for dawn to come silence silence under a star-spangled sky this town seems dead at midnight go down the street, but don’t go astray get your act together walking been walking for miles now soothing darkness around me blindfolded, I pass on pass all rocks that block my way sunlight I feel a new sun rising and follow its’ light to where
